Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining our facilities and improving our business. This individual is responsible for leading maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of the production process, and executing long-term strategic plans as identified by the company.

The Maintenance Manager performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. Major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers. Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.

Essential Functions

  • Cleans and inspects boiler; treats water with proper chemicals.
  • Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems.
  • Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds.
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
  • Installs electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed.
  • Repairs electrical equipment and control circuits; replaces faulty electrical switches; repairs refrigeration equipment.
  • May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security.
  • May install computer cable.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures.
  • Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.
  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
  • Coordinate work performed by outside vendors
  • Ensure efficient repair schedules and review repair cost estimates
  • Prioritize the maintenance and repairs of company equipment and parts
  • Control and monitor inventory
  • Implement safety policies and procedures for the department

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • 10 or more years’ experience in maintenance management role, with experience in a brewery production strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Work Environment

This position operates in restaurant, kitchen, hotel, and brewer setting. There are stairs and uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, slipping, tripping, falling, hazardous chemicals, and machinery. Frequent hand washing is required due to staff interactions in food prep areas. Job responsibilities may include working outdoors in the Denali, Alaska area in Spring and Fall, when temperatures are at or below freezing and walking surfaces may be slippery.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, and crouching. The position may require occasional moving of products weighing up to 100 pounds. Many of this position’s activities are carried out using machinery and other tools of repair.
